So for Empire Strikes back, the old ANH Stormtroope armour was reconditioned by the company Bermans & Nathans and worn for the film.

  • A - Frown was painted gloss black
  • B - Antenna was painted a lighter grey plus 3 stripes added to left and two marks added to the right although some were vice versa.
  • C - Tear marking 5 thicke black uneven stripes on grey decal (not blue as many seem to think).
  • D - Tubes stripes were blue screen printed decals on white
  • E - Eyes were cut more than ANH, to enable the actors to see better.

Hand Plates

  • The hand plates were totally new in ESB, a clamshell design compared to the flat hand plates in ANH.
  • Notice the two holes with black cotton thread stiches. These were used as anchor points to stitch the plate to the black silk gloves (Black chemical gloves were not worn in ESB like ANH). You can just make out another two cotton stiches on the top side, there are also two stiches on the bottom edge.

    Armor

  • Notice above how that now famous white tape is holding this troopers chest and back sections together.

    • There weren't really any major changes in the armor in ESB as the same armor was used from ANH, just the new hand plates, although look at the above photo you can clearly see that another blue was used instead of the usual Midnight blue (15), this one is Humbrol's fench blue number 14. Now we know more then one type of blue was used on the helmet tubes in ANH, so did the same happen with the suits or is this just something unique to this ESB trooper??
