Common mistakes to avoid
Below are some of the more common pitfalls to avoid when building your costume

TUBE STRIPES DIRECTION

parts

  • Make sure the tube stripes are facing the correct way, the crescent should be facing towards the face of the helmet. This
is the same for both left and right sides. See the above photo for visual of correct placement.

SHOULDER BELLS RIDING FORWARD

shoulder snap

  • A common mistake is troopers wearing armour with the shoulders moving towards to back. The shoulders should be as close as possible to the biceps. This helps to reduce the amount of black under suit shown.
  • Glue elastic straps to hold the shoulders to the biceps (movie accurate). In the above photo, I have marked in red where to glue.

DROP BOXES - POSITIONING CORRECTLY

bicep

  • Notice in the above photo, the square drop boxes (marked yellow) are almost at your 'sides'. Not in front of you.
  • You can use white elastic to attach them to your belt. Make sure they are high up near the belt. The original idea of these was to hide the black of the under suit. I attached mine to where the soft belt attaches to the plastic belt.

COD AND BUTT SECTIONS LOOSE

  • Nothing worse than seeing the Empire's finest walking around with the Butt section flapping around.
  • To fix this use a length of black elastic to hold the Cod and Butt sections together (see Snaps under Tutorial section). Using snaps here, can make it easier when going to the toilet in armour

THIGHS - WEARING THEM THE CORRECT WAY

CORRECT!

  • A common mistake is to put the Left thigh on your right leg and vice versa, see 1st photo. The thigh should curve in correctly around the cod piece, See photo above.
